Should You Purchase A Home That's Not Exactly...Perfect?

It's PERFECT...except for that one small thing.

What if you find what seems to be a perfect home except for one annoying issue? Perhaps it doesn’t have a pool, the basement isn’t finished or the backyard is small. Should you take a pass or should you consider making an offer anyway? Here are three questions to ask yourself that will help:

Can you live with it?

For example, if a home has a smaller living room than you wanted, can you live with it?  When pondering that question, you might come to realize that the issue isn’t a deal-breaker. 

Can you change it? 

It may be a nagging issue today, but can a renovation get you what you want?  For example, if you don’t like the kitchen cabinetry and design, a kitchen makeover can transform it into a space worthy of a magazine cover.  

Can you compensate for it? 

If you were hoping for a backyard pool and there isn’t one, maybe there’s a fantastic pool nearby at a recreation or fitness centre.  That might satisfy your family’s urge to take a splash on a hot summer day without leaving you with the cost and the responsibility of maintaining your own pool.  

The bottom line is, don’t just pass on a property because it has one issue.  Think about how you might be able to make that otherwise ideal home work for you.
