Four Home Design Touches You Didn't Think You Needed

Blog by Rebecca Permack | December 20th, 2017

Here at Burke Mountain Homes®, we stage every home we list for sale. We encounter a huge range of home design styles, decor, colour palettes and themes. But it doesn't matter if we're just adding some small touches or fully staging a vacant home, there are a few things that nearly everyone misses!

1. Greens! Whether it be some small potted plants to bring a pop of colour or a larger plant for a corner, greenery brings life into a room and can make all the difference in making a room feel more appealing.

2. Lights! Changing bulbs can sometimes make all the difference when setting the mood in your home. Opting for consistent colour temperatures throughout - soft, warm white instead of cool white - is best! And don’t be afraid to spice up a side table or the corner of a room with a lamp. Light is good!

3. Art!
Having your artwork display a consistent style, as well as finding artwork that is the correct size for your space is ideal. A large canvas can look really stunning behind a dining room table or on a big wall, while smaller frames look great in a bathroom. Also consider if you want the piece to be the focal point of the room, or if it's just going to accent the style and colour of your other decor. Whatever you decide, we suggest keeping a common theme - colour, style - for the artwork throughout your home. Make your walls pop!

4. Doormat! Something people constantly miss because it’s outside and constantly stepped on…but your mat is the first thing people see when they enter your home. Having a simple, crisp new mat can make the best first impression!
