20 Images in 20 Seconds

Blog by Rebecca Permack | November 12th, 2010

PechaKucha Night is Coming to Coquitlam

Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of "chit chat", PechaKucha Night rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds; making presentations concise and keeping things moving at a rapid pace. Devised in Tokyo in February 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public, it has turned into a massive celebration, with events happening in hundreds of cities around the world, inspiring creatives worldwide.

After 14 successful volumes in Vancouver, Pecha Kucha now regularly sells out the 1500 seats at the Vogue Theatre. The creative energy that arises from these events has been the catalyst for myriad collaborations and has brought countless urban cultural communities some well-deserved nourishment.
