1st Annual Belmont Block Party

Blog by Rebecca Permack | August 15th, 2010

A Great Success!

It was a sweltering 30+ degrees on Saturday afternoon at Burke Mountain, but the residents of Morningstar's Belmont at the Foothills development turned out in force for the first annual Belmont Block Party! All 107 households were invited to bring a lawn chair, set up camp and meet their neighbours in the cul-de-sac of Avondale Street.

A committee of several selfless residents of Avondale Street helped to organize the event which included a BBQ, water misters, a fire truck and a police car for the kids, face painting and ping-pong. One of the highlights of the event was the community craft project - a 3D scale model of the development which each resident decorated and populated with a paper cutout of their home.

There was something for everyone: a pick-up game of basketball kept the boys entertained, the girls changed their painted faces to a new design every hour while the adults barbecued and got to know one another.  It was wonderful to see families from all backgrounds come together to share food and drink, and start to solidify the community sentiment that was a large part of why we all moved here in the first place.

BurkeMountainHomes.com was proud to sponsor this event in cooperation with Wesbild and Morningstar Homes.  Overall it was a great success and everyone is already looking forward to next year!
