Burke Mountain Community Update

Blog by Rebecca Permack | May 3rd, 2010

Last week, Wesbild held an open house for the residents of Burke Mountain to update their development progress and reveal some new development plans. Wesbild is one of the largest landowners on Burke Mountain, and they have been working diligently with the City of Coquitlam and local developers to build a community that is open and welcoming to anyone.

Many of the plans presented are long-term projects, but ground is already being cleared for some, like Morningstar’s “Avondale”, which was cleared on the east side of Coast Meridian last month. A large portion of Wesbild’s future development will be townhomes located off of David Avenue.  This will give some competition to Mosaic Homes’ Tatton Development, and provide buyers with more options and open up this area to more first time buyers.

The planned retail centre on the southeast corner of David Avenue and Coast Meridian Road is the most anticipated and talked about development for current residents on Burke Mountain.  This is being designed and built by Wesbild themselves, because they want to make sure it looks great!  It will be the “gateway” to the Burke Mountain area, and will be a two-level building with ground floor retail and upper floor professional services.  They are currently in talks with tenants for the retail portion, but have already made the promise that there will be an “A”-list coffee shop in the building –and that’s all that really matters, right?!
