Community Involvement
Always a participator, Rebecca has contributed to any community she belongs to – from community clean-up days in her neighbourhood, to the upcoming Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver and Whistler, to participating in the Real Estate and Development fundraising committee for the BC Children’s Hospital during her years at Cushman & Wakefield LePage.
On an ongoing basis, Rebecca participates in and donates one percent of all real estate commissions earned to The Weekend To End Breast Cancer, benefiting the BC Cancer Foundation. This will be her fifth year participating in this event, and every year Rebecca is inspired by the amazing people she meets on the journey.
About The Weekend to End Breast Cancer
The Weekend to End Breast Cancer benefiting the BC Cancer Foundation is an opportunity to discover what it means to be a hero in one amazing weekend. Thousands of women and men join together in Vancouver to walk 60 kilometres in a bold display of courage and commitment. To participate in The Weekend, each walker must fundraise a minimum of $2,000. The money raised will save lives by supporting critical breast cancer research, treatment and care funded by the BC Cancer Foundation.
In 2009, 1,300 walkers from Vancouver joined together to raise $3 million making the total amount of funds raised by The Weekend to End Breast Cancer benefiting the BC Cancer Foundation, over $29 million. Funds raised from this important event continue to support breast cancer research, treatment and care right here in British Columbia.
